Quote of the day for writers:
“Develop interest in life as you see it; in people, things, literature, music–the world is so rich, simply throbbing with rich treasures, beautiful souls, interesting people. Forget yourself.” –Henry James
What intriguing thing or person or music have you fallen in love with lately?
It’s not recent but a long lasting “love affair.” There’s this man that’s always in our local Starbucks. He’s tall and has very dark skin. He’s always dressed sharply — usually in suits, and no matter what, he’s wearing shiny shoes. He has an infant who he frequently brings along. He focuses all of his attention on his baby and loves him so deeply. He seems to know everyone in the coffee shop. He’s always ready to share a laugh and advice with all the other customers — the fancy dressed ones and the old mentally ill man who begs for money until the workers kick him out. I don’t know what this particular man does or why he’s in the coffee shop so often (3x a week minimum). But he’s so interesting to me. It makes me so happy to see him regularly too.
Oh, HB, that is a fantastic word photo! I love him now, too. And what a beautiful portrait you painted of him!
More!
HB, that is fabulous. Really, really good.
I think with the advent (finally) of spring in Missouri, I’ve managed to fall in love with something everytime I turn around. Lately though, it’s been Keb Mo.
I remember the first time I heard one note from him. I was in Barnes & Noble and they were piping the music overhead and even though I came in for a BOOK, mind you, I found myself in the music section, inquiring, “who is that? Do you have it?” And they did and then, I did.
He still does that to me. I was playing his music a little while ago and I still feel the same way. “Do you have that? Because I want that.”
Good stuff.
